At approxiately 7:45 in the morning of July 26, a shuttle bus in a license plate number “渝A16640″ caught itself on fire when it drove through a road near Hi-Tech Industrial Zone, in Chongqing. The driver tried to control the fire himself but failed. He then called the police.
The firefighters serving at Hi-Tech Industrial Zone arrived soon and extinguish the fire in seveal minutes, but the bus was left with the iron frames only. It was reported the blaze started at the bus dashboard. It was lucky that at that time the bus was empty as it hasn’t yet started carrying passengers, so there were no casualties.
There have been many bus blaze incidents since this early July. Some of bus blazes were self-ignited, but some were linked to arsons. China Buzz has ever reported a shuttle bus in Beijing caught itself on fire due to the continued high temperature weather those days on July 6, and a 36-year-old man from Yiyang set fire to a shuttle bus in Changsha which left two passengers dead on July 21.
