Woman dragged to her death by fleeing van in Shenzhen

At around 12:20pm, February 16, 2012, a woman was dragged for over 500 meters to her death when trying to stop a fleeing van in Bao’an District, Shenzhen City.

The woman, surnamed Zhao, 35 years old from Hunan, opened a fast food restaurant with her husband, surnamed Wei from Hunan too, together in Bao’an District. In order to save costs, the couple, whose economic condition was poor, did not hire any workers to help them: Wei worked as a cook and Zhao as a waitress.

According to a staff member working in a small retail shop next to the restaurant, at noon on the day two young men were found coming to the restaurant with a van. The couple thought they were customers and did not pay the special attention. But soon, the shop staff saw that the two young men ran out of the restaurant, and the couple chased after them shouting, “Don’t run! Catch the thieves!”

It seems the two men stole the cash from the restaurant, but were caught by the shop owners. The two men quickly slipped into their van, and the couple blocked in front of the vehicle. However, in order to get rid of them, the desperate burglars still started the vehicle and stepped on the gas pedal. The woman was accidentally hanged under the head of the van and dragged for over 500 meters long, while her husband luckily escaped.

Zhao died right at the scene due to too serious injuries and too much blood loss. Wei also sustained injures, when attempting to stop the van in the beginning by punching on the windshield window.

Horribly, a long strip of blood stains was left on the road.

The local police have started investigation and taken evidence.

The heartbroken husband collapsed onto the ground when he saw his wife died such a tragic death.

Zhao died right at the scene due to too serious injuries and too much blood loss.
